Continuation from yesterdays post
Ran out of time yesterday so to continue story
We drove to Devon and called in at Launceston Castle ruins which was built after the Norman conquest in 1066 from there we took the scenic route via Dartmoor to Silverton near Exeter. Couldn't check in to the B&B until 7pm as they were away that day so stopped at local pub and had a few drinks with locals - met really nice couple Mike & Ceri ended up leaving about 9pm and had to phone Lorraine from B&B to come and show us the way as it was a journey of several short narrow lanes, would never have found it without her assistance.
Yesterday we went to a couple of different houses one called Knightshayes Court which had unusual gothic interiors and was a very flamboyant house. Took a walk along the Great Western Canal (really wanted a boat ride but they ran on Tuesdays) then went to Killerton House and gardens. That evening we had a picnic in the garden of the B&B.
Today we have made our way to Stonehenge and Salisbury just got soaking wet with first rain for trip since Japan so ducked into Library to update the page.
Not sure how to answer individual comments so to Jenny we don't go to Whitby until sometime in July but will be sure to take a photo outside the green door of the fish & chip shop.
Will catch up again soon.
