Rutland Waters

We arrived at our timeshare place Sunday evening after we enjoyed a scenic drive down or up to Rutland Waters. Really nice place - double bedroom, lounge, kitchen and bathroom overlooking lovely green lawn, gardens and in distance lake which is actually man made reservoir of 26 mile circumference, so reasonably big.

Spent the first day doing some grocery shopping so we can cook a few meals whilst here then the rest of the day in the swimming pool and spa and going for a walk around waters edge (well about 3 miles of it anyway). My Uncle George arrived Monday evening to spend a couple of nights with us on the spare bed in the lounge and we are travelling around the area over the next few days checking out the main sights. Normanton Church which had the floor raised 3meters when they created the reservoir and a railway viaduct which is 3/4 mile long, 70ft high 82 arches and spans the Wheaton Valley were a couple fo the things of interest. We also called at Stamford and had a drink at the George where I decided we should make a run for it when I saw the flash Ladies room all decked out with curtains, lounges and the best of everything. Figured the price of drinks may be a little high and was right so we only had one each.

Sunday we are heading off to the continent and spending 5 nights in Paris then on to Brussels, Bruge and Amsterdam so no idea whether I will be able to update, will try to do so as it is a good diary record for us when we return.

Paris is going to be expensive! :)
